Press Coverage Index

This page is a fan index of public coverage, not a press kit. Zzangdol Games and Jungle Game Lab did not hire this wiki. Confirm dates, languages, and the score on the Steam store page. The live reception number sits on Steam Reception. Official trailers live on the ZzangdolGames YouTube channel. We embed the English cut here because that is the video English outlets reused. Japanese and Korean cuts sit on How to Play in those locales.

The shipped premise is stable. All 227 people affiliated with the Church of the Nine-Tentacled Octopus drowned during a ritual. Families reject the closed file. You play a NIRA religious-studies researcher at a government desk. Important clues are not highlighted. Search unfamiliar words, including the takoyaki joke. Free Windows download on 14 August 2026. Korean, English, Japanese. Single-player only. There is no multiplayer mode.

Japanese outlets

Denfaminicogamer (17 August 2026) reported the free Steam launch, named 九腕タコ教, and caught the store while it was still Very Positive around a few hundred reviews. Game*Spark’s 17 August roundup put the title in a daily Steam list and stressed Japanese support. game-news.tokyo ran two launch notes that largely reprint the store copy. doope.jp (19 August 2026) quoted a Zzangdol Games press release: free on 14 August at 16:00 JST, Japanese/English/Korean, more languages planned, Overwhelmingly Positive after four days with more than 650 reviews. That planned-language sentence is intent. The live table is still three languages. See Languages.

Korean and English outlets

Gamemeca described a Cthulhu-flavoured free mystery and a clean early recommend rate. IndieGame.com ran Korean and English previews that treated Zzangdol Games as a Jungle Game Lab graduate and, in places, used a 31 July calendar plus a missing-person / private-detective frame the live store does not use. Trust 14 August and the NIRA desk. Notebookcheck summarised the drowning case, the no-highlight loop, a Kozlovka comparison some reviews make, 98 percent of more than 500, and a SteamDB peak around 1,332. yomimono.id tracked the climb through Very Positive. Kotaku’s game hub listed the title with a pre-release date that was already stale once Steam went live.

How to read a preview against the executable

If a preview says private detective, missing friend, or 31 July, it is describing a pitch calendar, not the 1.0 store blurb. If a preview says only Korean, it is describing an older language table; the client that shipped has three languages. If a preview promises a highlighter, it is wrong. If a preview compares the desk to Her Story, Hypnospace Outlaw, or Lost Wiki: Kozlovka, that is taste, not a shared universe. Comparisons live on Games Like This. If a preview calls the cult Nine-Armed or Nine Octopus Legs, that is a translation of 아홉개의 문어다리교 / 九腕タコ教. This wiki uses Church of the Nine-Tentacled Octopus in English case files. See Church.

Do not treat aggregator pages that scrape Steam as reporting. Do not treat a YouTube ID we have not verified as a walkthrough. Steam’s store also hosts an English gameplay clip titled (ENG)No Results Found GamePlay; that file is not a YouTube ID. Community sessions we did verify sit on matching guides: a Japanese investigation on the Walkthrough, a Korean investigation on When You Are Stuck. FrozenShiver’s Steam community guide is a player dump, not press.

What press got right

Free. No highlighter. Cult internet that reads like a closed forum. Two-hour first filing for people who do not stall. Jungle Game Lab on the publisher line. [email protected] on the support line. Patch 1.1 as the current desk if they bothered to check news. Those lines match Launch Notes and Official Links. The studio context is Zzangdol and Jungle Game Lab.

If an outlet 404s, search the app ID 4911390 plus the outlet name. This index will add a row when a later patch or a fourth language actually ships. Until then it is a bibliography, not a drip feed.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for investigators who just hit a dead search.

No. It is a fan index of public articles. Confirm facts on Steam.

Why do some previews say 31 July?

That was a preview calendar. The live store date is 14 August 2026.

Did the developer promise more languages?

A mid-August press release said more languages were planned. Steam still lists Korean, English, and Japanese.
